Is Tomorrowland worth it?

For those of you who don’t know, Tomorrowland is one of the biggest music festivals in the world (probably the biggest one). It is celebrated every summer in the Belgian town of Boom at the end of July. After its first edition in 2005, it has grown from being a small local festival in Belgium to becoming the most important electronic music festival in the world, bringing together more than half a million people.

Pff what an asshole you are! Can’t imagine how much fun you had there! All full of girls right !? What an envy! These and some other niceties are what my friends told me after seeing that I was in Tomorrowland but is Tomorrowland really worth it?

To understand a little more how big the festival is, and before explaining whether Tomorrowland is worth it, here are some curious facts:

• The camping area, Dreamville, has an extension of more than 128 football fields where there are more than 500 volunteers working.

• Dreamville has its own radio station for people who are camping there.

• Atmosphere, one of the stages, has a circus tent suspended more than 32 meters high and with more than 120,000 LEDs that illuminate the interior (this is more than 2km of LED lights)

• In Tomorrowland there is a restaurant that has a Michelin star, Secret Resto.

• Tomorrowland has its own plane in collaboration with Brussels Airlines.

• To go from Dreamville to the main stage you have to walk about 40 minutes.

Is Tomorrowland worth it? Tickets and money

“Yes, of course, you have gone because you work and have money, I cannot afford it”

That was my thought years ago when I only dreamt about going to Tomorrowland and I spent the days watching the aftermovie and downloading the songs from YouTube … Although I had never really started to investigate how much it would cost to go to the festival until I really considered going.

Once you decide to go, you will realize that the problem is not money, but to get a ticket! Tickets are usually on sale in mid-February and sell out in minutes, yes, you heard right, MINUTES! Such is the load of visits that the website collapses year after year!

If you are one of the lucky ones who get a ticket in these minutes, Congratulations! You already have your 3-day pass for Tomorrowland for less than 250 EUR. Therefore, it is not expensive, but it is impossible to get one of these tickets, so you will have no choice but to buy a package with accommodation.

The cheapest package is the one that includes accommodation in the camping area, Dreamville. This package is also known as Magnificent Green, as it is the type of tent they will give you. You can choose between different sizes and such, but if you want to save money, pick this one.

Keep in mind that in addition to the entrance and the tent, you will need transportation to Belgium (unless you are already there). This is why in my first year, 2018, I opted for the “Global Journey” package, since it included flight and travel from Spain.

Since I wanted it to be a unique experience and I didn’t know if I would go again, I decided that I would buy my brother the entrance and thus be able to go together. But come on, that was the idea, I still didn’t know if I could get the ticket or not!

So there I was, all nervous in front of the laptop, not knowing if my credit card would accept the payment or if I could even access the page … The countdown hit 0 and … nothing … the browser was not updated … but of course, I couldn’t refresh the tab or it would all start from the beginning! After a few minutes of heart attack, I could select the package I wanted, enter the card information and … NOTHING! 42min of NOTHING! Fortunately, after 36 minutes of waiting, I received a message from my bank confirming the purchase and 6 minutes later an email from Tomorrowland with the details of the trip, and yes! I was going to Tomorrowland!

One thing I forgot to mention is that with the Global Journey package you will have access to “The Gathering” which is a party in Dreamville on Thursday before the first day, it is exclusive for people who are camping.
